The Foundation

The Coda Foundation is a registered charity led by medical students. Our team consists entirely of volunteers dedicated to our sole mission: to reduce the burden of cancer on all Canadians.

We give.
Year after year, our entire network comes together for our Christmas in July event. With tens of volunteers, hundreds of gift bags and thousands of dollars, we bring smiles to the faces of ALL the hospitalized children.
Every. Single. Year.

We share.
The Coda Comfort Crew is a service all about sharing. Not only gifts, tablets and games, but also sharing our time and lending our ears. Within our first month of operations, our team of trained volunteers cumulated over 200 hours of company for patients undergoing chemotherapy.
We empower.
With our vast network of medical schools and other academic institutions, we are raising the next generation of devoted young leaders. Our large platform enables them to bring their passion projects to life and to have a real, measurable impact on their community.

Who

We are

Coda was founded at Marianopolis College in 2019, in honor of a founding member's loved one being lost to cancer. The initiative was then relaunched by a group of McGill medical students in late 2021, in official collaboration with the Canadian Cancer Society.
Two years later, the same medical students founded the Coda Foundation, which now operates as a registered charity under the federal government.

Our leadership is almost entirely composed of medical students, none of whom receive any form of compensation for their work. This ensures that all decisions made are done so strictly for the advancement of our cause.
Their clinical experience enables them to create truly patient-centered services based on real-world needs.

Over the years, we've built an incredible team of over 180 dedicated students who work tirelessly to bring our vision to life. Our Coda Seeds each organize their own fundraisers and awareness events but join forces for our larger projects and campaigns.
With our 15 academic institutions, including every faculty of medicine in Quebec, we are effectively reshaping the future, inspiring youth to develop a sense of involvement and leadership within their community.
